These past nine months have been a whirlwind to say the least. The New Year quickly came, and it seems to be quickly passing us by as well. My sweet baby boy was born shortly after and before you knew it my family was moving across the country. A lot has happened since I last sat down and updated ya’ll on my life.
This blog post is dedicated to sharing a little bit of what’s been going on, where I’m at, and where I’m headed next.
As always, these posts are more for me to look back on and remember that time in my life. However, I do choose to share my life moments with all of you too.
A Little Life Update
So, what’s been going on?
Well, since springtime (really since January) we have been in one big life transition. Aside from Jasper being born (read his birth story here), we moved from Montana to Delaware! We stayed with my mom for about two months in the summer until we found a house. In June we closed on our house. But life hasn’t been all rainbows and unicorns. We decided to purchase a fixer upper so that we could have some character but put our own twist on it. What we anticipated being about a month or so turned into three months. I shared a lot of our house journey on my Instagram page but have kept quiet these last several weeks. Mark and I decided we are going to wait to share more until it is finished. As I am typing this it is the end of September and we can finally say our home is pretty much complete! We have some minor finishing touches to do such as paint and trim, but aside from that we have a fully functioning home!
We are splitting the house up into sections so, the first renovations were the main living areas. Next, we are renovating the remaining two rooms downstairs, the stairs, adding on a wraparound porch, landscaping/cleaning up the backyard, and then hopefully a year from now we will be starting renovations upstairs. I plan on writing a blog post sharing before and after photos with each renovation we do!
On top of the chaos of motherhood and moving, I decided to also take classes to become a doula! I haven’t talked much about this mainly because of real life taking priority, but also because it’s been put on the back burner for now. If you read my blog, then you know last week I opened up and shared my struggle with postpartum anxiety. You can go ahead and read that post, here. Since then I have felt so much better now that I got it off my chest. I hope to get back into therapy really soon but will continue to take you along on my journey of healing.
Jasper is doing great! He is growing and learning so much every day. In the last few months he’s become extremely active and it’s getting hard to keep him entertained some days. He has also learned how to sit up all by himself. We started solids and he is a lot pickier than I thought he would be, but that’s okay! He is so close to crawling and I have a feeling he’s going to give me a run for my money when he figures it out!
Aside from all of that, my family and I are happy and healthy. We have a lot of events coming up and our weekends are pretty much booked for the next two months but we couldn’t be more grateful.
