About two years ago I was very involved with fitness and working out. In fact, before the Instagram account I have and use now, I had another one specifically for fitness. I made the account way before it was the thing to do and it grew quickly. I was so inspired that I thought “how cool would it be to start a blog”? So, I started a blog! LuvYourBodyFitness. Yep, that was the name of my account and my very first blog. It didn’t last very long and soon after I switched gears and became passionate about more than just fitness. I knew in the future I wanted to try blogging again, I just didn’t know when. I decided to take the time and finish school, live life, and blossom into the individual I am today. As of March 10, 2017, I launched that blog I always dreamt of having and today I am celebrating my one year bloggiversay!
Today I am sharing and talking all about my journey of becoming a blogger. What it has taught me, why I started, and how I plan on continuing to live my passion. I can’t believe it has already been one full year. More importantly, I can’t believe I trusted the universe and believed in myself to follow through with it! I couldn’t be prouder of myself and I am just so grateful for this opportunity.
Creating DevonJade wasn’t something I woke up to one day and had all the answers to. It took a lot of time and brainstorming to choose my brand name, when to launch my site, and have all of my content prepared. I would say I spent a good 8 months, prior to launching my site, setting up the details and brainstorming different ideas. So, in short, I poured my heart and soul into this.
It started with my passion for healthy living and craving to share it with others. As the preparation and planning went on, my passions grew and the purpose behind my blog became so much more. Through many experiences and research of my own I felt, and still do feel, like I have so much to share with others. To show individuals who feel like their world is ending, that it’s not, it’s only just beginning. That there are many ways to live a healthy life, designed for you and only you.
Once my ideas grew and my inspiration was in a constant flow, I knew the hard part was coming. Choosing a brand name. This was huge. It was what everyone would know me by in a sense. I was paying for this name, so I could legally use it. So, yeah, a little stressful. I knew I wanted a name that spoke to me but also told my readers “hey I’m passionate about all the things”. I loved health and wellness, and yes, that is what I mainly post about, but I didn’t want to feel like I was putting any labels or limits on myself. I bet you didn’t know this, but I changed my middle name to Jade for branding purposes as well as real life reasons. Surprise! I actually wasn’t born with my middle name Jade. However, I love it and I feel like myself with this name. So, it stuck! And DevonJade was born.
Blogging is not easy, let me tell you. And any blogger or content creator out there will tell you the same thing. You have to know what you want/what you want to write about, have the drive and motivation to do it, plan A LOT, and have patience (a lot of that too). I plan on sharing a post of all the things I’ve learned from blogging, so sit tight! Nothing happens overnight, and you need to make sure you are doing this for YOU and no one else.
I remember my very first blog posts, (I’ll link them here Vegetarian, Gluten Free Quinoa Chili, Montana Living – One Month In, Meditation – Connecting To Your True Self, March 2017 Favorites), the day I announced it, and every day after. I was nervous, excited, fearful, happy, motivated, and so sure of myself. Looking back, that was just the beginning for me. While I have some ways to go, I don’t plan on stopping soon. In fact, this is yet another new beginning for me and it can only go up from here! I have so much in the works for DevonJade and I cannot wait to see where it takes me and bring you along on this journey!
Thank you for all of your support because I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you. From friends in real life, friends I have met via Instagram, and friends I don’t know yet- you mean the world to me.
