Hello beautiful humans! Ever have something you want to say or do but just keep forgetting about it? That’s how I feel with today’s blog post. I’ve been meaning to type this for a little while now but with the holidays and the New Year it just wasn’t at the top of my list. Today, however, it is happening! In this post, I am finally getting around to sharing with you guys all about my Meditation Teacher Training experience!
My Meditation Teacher
Training Journey + FAQ’s
As a few of you may already know, I started my journey to become a meditation teacher back in June and just received my certification in December. Meditation has become a huge part of life and daily routine, I can’t even remember life prior to meditating! So, when this opportunity literally fell right into my lap I knew I had to go for it.
The most common questions I get asked about MTT are “where did you go for it?” and “what is that?”. Hearing the phrase “I’m a meditation teacher” isn’t something you hear quite often so I’m pretty used to getting asked those questions by now. I’m also extremely grateful to have such a unique certification that has the potential to change how we experience life! For my teacher training I attended an online training taught by Charlie Knoles and hosted by Mind Body Green. It was a 200-hour training that ran over the course of six months. It was mainly self-taught and you could move at your own pace, however, there were some requirements to meet before moving on and, as well as, receiving your cert. I loved attending this training because you could do it on your own time, own schedule, and in the comfort of your own home. And to be honest, I don’t know anywhere else that offers you a certification to be able to teach meditation, let alone many meditation teachers.
Now, to answer what it is. Simple, I teach meditation! Although you do not need to be certified to have your own meditation practice it is always great to get advice from an expert. And while I don’t consider myself an expert necessarily, I do now see what it takes to truly be able to understand meditation and its sole purpose. Just like anything else!
Another common question I get asked is “what are you going to do now?”. I’ll let you know when I know 😉 Just kidding! Right now, I don’t have any desire to teach in a studio or class setting, however, I am definitely considering it in the future. For right now I am offering FREE meditations once a week to go hand in hand with a segment I have on my Instagram page. To give you a brief overview of it, every Wednesday I share a weekly check-in, called Where Are You Wednesday. It is reminder to pause, breathe, and check-in with yourself and how you are feeling. I recently decided to spice things up a little bit and create meditations to go along with each post! The day I post the check-in (via Instagram) I will have the direct link to the meditation in my Instagram bio for easy access. Afterwards you can search “Devon Jade” on YouTube.
Aside from sharing a few free meditations I will be selling meditations through my website. There is no set date these will be released yet as I still working out some kinks. There will be meditations for everyone no matter your experience. As soon as I know more information you will definitely hear about it first!
Overall, I am beyond grateful for this experience. I am so proud of myself for doing this and it still blows my mind that I am an actual meditation teacher! It’s crazy! Not only am I grateful to call myself a meditation teacher, but I am also grateful to have all of this knowledge on this ancient, yet powerful, practice. I have learned so much and I cannot wait to start incorporating more into my daily life. The mind is a powerful thing and taking just 3 minutes to sit with yourself and listen to your breath can be very, very magical.
If you’re looking to get certified yourself or want to know more details, don’t hesitate to message me! I will try to answer your questions the best that I can.
