Homemade Chocolate Bark

Want to know my all-time favorite holiday treat is? Peppermint bark! My aunt makes the BEST homemade peppermint bark and always sends me off with a tin of my own. DROOL. Unfortunately, this year we will not be around family, so I decided to get creative and make my own version!

This version has no peppermint in it because my fiancé is not a fan of chocolate and mint (crazy, I know!) but it does have a whole bunch of other yummy flavors to it! It is also dairy and gluten free and sweetened with just a little bit of maple syrup! And my favorite thing about this easy to make treat is you can add whatever you want to it and it makes the perfect gift!

Homemade Chocolate Bark

 Ingredients

¼ cup melted coconut oil, refined unless you want a hint of coconut flavor.

1/3 cup cacao powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Cinnamon to taste (usually a few shakes

Your choice of toppings

Instructions

Mix all ingredients in a medium sized bowl, EXCEPT the toppings.

Pour the mixture of parchment paper on a 9×9 pan (sheet pans work well, too).

Place in the freezer for about 2-3 minutes. Take out and then add your toppings

Place back in the freezer for 10-20  minutes so it becomes solid.

Take out and break into pieces!
