Natural Ways To Kick a Cold + Stay Above The Wellness Line

It’s that time of year when the temperatures drop and so do we, drop below the wellness line that is. Germs are inevitable, they’re everywhere and it’s literally impossible to avoid them (unless you live in a bubble, but what’s the fun in that). And since you can’t avoid them, you mine as well be prepared for them when they takeover.

As someone who tries their best to stay above the wellness line, I occasionally have my losses too. But when I do, I make sure I take extra care of my body— after all, your body is trying to tell you something when it is sick, so listen to it.

I have compiled a list of my top favorite cold and flu remedies that work every single time. Not only do they work in a time of need but they also prevent me from getting sick too— I think that’s a win win situation!

Natural Remedies To Stay Above

The Wellness Line

Thieves Young Living essential oil– I would say this is the top cold and flu remedy I have and it has never failed me. This is an essential oil blend to help support your immune system. It’s full of immune boosting, germ fighting, high quality oils to naturally keep you above the wellness line. Young Living also carries a whole line of Thieves, from cleaners, hand sanitizer, and cough drops. I love using Thieves in my diffuser, applying it behind my ears and bottoms of my feet, and even in my tea!

Apple Cider Vinegar– If ya couldn’t tell by now, I love ACV. I drink this every morning and even more so when I am sick. Put a tablespoon in hot water with lemon (add honey for sweetness) and drink up!

Lemon Young Living essential oil– another staple oil in my household. Lemon is mostly known for its antiseptic properties and Vitamin C. Adding this to water or popping it into your diffuser not only boosts your immune system but helps eliminate germs.

Raw honey– honey is soooo soothing when you have a cold, especially a sore throat. When I’m sick I try to take 2 spoonful’s a day and add it into any tea I may drink.

Rest– like this wasn’t an obvious one. We are all busy, I get that, trust me, But when you are sick, your body is telling you to slow down.

Fluids– If the doctor or your mom hasn’t reminded you enough, I am here to make sure you don’t forget. Stay hydrated, your body needs as much water as possible to help flush out the toxins.

Nourishing foods– I know all you want is comfort food…mac and cheese, French fries, ice cream…but go for something green, fruit high in Vitamin C, or anything that will fuel your body back to health.

A hot bath or shower– my favorite thing, ever. Hot baths (or showers) cure most things. And, if you have a fever this just might help you sweat it out, plus soaking in the warm water is both relaxing and good for your sick body.

R.C. Young Living essential oil– essentials are my jam, can ya tell? This is another blend for respiratory support. Put this on your chest (diluted with a carrier oil) or in the diffuser for easy breathing.

Eucalyptus Young Living essential oil– another goodie for easy breathing, plus it smells AMAZING.
