If someone were to ask me if I am sweet or salty kind of gal, I would hands down, no hesitation say SWEET. I LOVE any and all sweets (that I can actually eat anyways). This is hard though…Loving sweets but being allergic and sensitive to everything. Within the last year I discovered I had a fructose intolerance and that my body/digestive system is highly sensitive to sugar. Even though I knew in the back of my head sugar is not so good for us, I was still bummed out because I loved smoothies and my nightly ice cream!
Fast forward a year later, to where I am now, and I am eating everything I use to eat and more! How did I do it? Simple, trial and error. I LISTENED to MY body. Heck yeah, it took long af but it’s SO worth it. I eat all the sweets you could imagine and they are actually good for me…how refreshing and freeing is that?! With that said, I also learned how to incorporate smoothies back into my diet! I learned, for me, smoothies have to be primarily vegetable based with little fruit. And that my sweets in fact can be my smoothies too!
Today I am sharing one of my recently favorite *dessert* smoothies with y’all so you can understand what I’m talking about! This smoothie has only ONE fruit it in, vegetables, superfoods, and protein. But it taste like, yep you guessed it, a chocolate covered cherry!!! So, without teasing your tastebuds anymore, go finish reading and make this ASAP!
*makes 1 serving*
1 1/2 cup of almond milk (I use Califia farms, unsweetened original)
About 5 whole pieces of steamed, then frozen zucchini
1 handful of frozen cherries
1 handful of spinach
1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon of cacao chips
1 tablespoon of Philosophie cacaobee superfood honey
1 scoop Vital Proteins collagen peptides
Add everything into a blender and mix mix mix until it’s thick and creamy!
Pour in a glass (with a straw, of course) and enjoy!
