Full Body Treadmill Workout

I totally get going to the gym sometimes sucks, but to stay healthy we gotta do it…am I right? It also makes us feel really good and has many awesome benefits we can discuss later. I know for myself, if I do the same ole workouts all the time, not only does my body get use to it, but I get SO bored and want to give up. I like my workouts to be fun, sweaty, and ever changing. So as much as I want to lift weights to have strong muscles and run to stay lean, I also want to be all around functional. So to do that I make sure I am always changing up my workouts.

Coming up with workouts can be hard, especially when you are new to the fitness world and have no clue what you’re doing. Don’t worry though, I got your back. Whether you are brand spanking new to this or have been ‘fitness-ing’ your whole life this workout will be sure to spice up your average gym routine!

This workout is a combination of cardio, specifically H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training), body weight strengthening, and overall endurance. I have you begin with a quick warm-up, take you through a series of moves (performed on the treadmill!! Treadmills aren’t just for running, ya know!) and then have you end with a cool down.

Let’s get sweating!

Set treadmill incline to 1.0 (this is better for the joints and bones in your body, you are never running on flat ground even when you are outside so giving yourself a very small incline will make all the difference)

(WARM-UP) brisk walk at speed 3.0 – 5 minutes

Alternating *stationary* walking lunges at speed 1.5 – 2 minutes

Run at speed 6.0 – 1 minute

pause the treadmill and do 10 incline push-ups (hands on treadmill and perform regular push-up; go on your knees if you have to) then get back on treadmill

Side shuffle at speed 2.0 – 1 minute each side, 2 minute total

Run at speed 6.0 – 1 minute

pause the treadmill and perform 10 dips (hands should be on treadmill again) get back on treadmill

REPEAT 3-5x or for a minimum of 30 minutes

(COOL DOWN) brisk walk at speed 3.0 – 5 minutes
